MG6, Since 2010, SAIC Motor in China has started making the compact automobile known as the MG6 under the MG brand. Directly below it are the compact hatchback MG 5 and the compact sedan MG GT.
First generation (2009)
A five-door GT/fastback and a four-door notchback saloon version of the first-generation MG6 were respectively presented at the Shanghai Auto Show in April 2009 and the Shanghai World Expo in October 2010. It is distantly related to the Rover 75 because it has the same front subframe as the Rover 75 and descends from the Roewe 550.
The saloon, known as the MG6 Magnette, debuted on July 16, 2011, while the five-door fastback/hatchback, known as the MG6 GT, went on sale in the UK in May 2011. At the end of 2012, a diesel model was added to the roster. The first Thai-built vehicle left the manufacturing line on June 4, 2014, with a capacity of 5,000 vehicles annually.
Second generation (2016)
In November 2016, the second generation was unveiled at the Nanjing Wanchi racetrack. The new “Emotional Dynamism” design language made its debut on the MG ZS, the company’s second SUV, in 2016, and it is now present on the second-generation MG6. The redesigned grille, known as “Star Rider,” is a key component of MG’s new design aesthetic.
The Roewe i6 sedan and the MG6 share a common basis, and both vehicles have plug-in hybrid versions (eMG6 and Roewe i6).
Chinese-owned Morris Garages (MG) Motors, a British automaker, would offer the MG 6—the first MG sedan—in Pakistan. The car is available on the international market. The owner of MG Pakistan, Javed Afridi, has teased the arrival of the MG 6.
MG Pakistan
According to the Automotive Development Policy 2016–20, MG Motors Pakistan recently received the greenfield designation. The automaker is now marketing two SUVs, the MG HS and MG ZS, as imported CBU models. In the near future, MG Pakistan will start assembling its cars here. However, if and when the MG 6 is added to the MG automobile lineup, it will be offered in CBU units, similar to past versions.
Exterior
The MG 6 is unlike any other car on the Pakistani market thanks to its striking and athletic external styling. The star rider grille, which is MG’s recognizable logo, houses the enormous MG emblem. The bold strokes improve both the intelligent LED daytime running lights (DRLs) and the LED headlights.
The rearview mirror and side mirrors can be electrically adjusted in addition to having high-mounted lights and a back parking camera. The sporadic wipers maintain the front screen’s clarity and shine. Additionally, the MG 6 had 16-inch alloy wheels.
Interior
A sense of depth is immediately apparent due to the fabric that has been wrapped across the MG 6. A leather-covered, energy-absorbing column is part of the electric power steering system. The steering wheel has Audi control switches and can tilt in addition to being adjustable. Four alternative configurations are possible for the front passenger seat, compared to six for the driver. Like any other vehicle, there are two cup holders and a simple sun visor as standard equipment.
Keyless entry is an option with the MG 6, and the push-button start function makes driving more convenient. The integrated 8-inch touch screen in the 4-seat sedan provides access to all entertainment choices. It features an inbuilt Apple CarPlay and enables Bluetooth communication.
Engine
The MG 6’s 1.5L turbocharged petrol engine produces 250 Nm of torque at 4400 RPM and 160 HP at 5600 RPM. The vehicle has an automated 7-speed DCT transmission.
In order to maintain a more level ride, the MG 6’s springs and dampers have been updated. The electronic steering responds smoothly, quickly moving the vehicle around curves and steep corners. Additionally, the MG 6 has good handling and doesn’t bother passengers when traveling over potholes. The vehicle has a lot of traction on the road and relatively little body roll when cornering.
Mileage
With a fuel capacity of 50 liters, the MG 6 achieves an amazing mileage of 16.7 km/l. It takes about seven seconds to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h.
Colors
MG 6 is available in the following colors:
- Obsidian Black
- Pearl White
- Racing Red
- Carbon Grey
Competitor
In Pakistan, the MG 6 competes against the Toyota Corolla and the Honda Civic.
Due to the loyal and elderly customer bases that the Toyota Corolla and Honda Civic enjoy in Pakistan, the MG 6 may encounter some opposition.
With all of the newest amenities, the Toyota Corolla is already a well-liked vehicle in Pakistan. Due to its dependability and comparable characteristics, it fiercely competes with the MG 6 on the market.
