Hyundai Sonata, The Sonata is a mid-size car that Hyundai has been making since 1985.. Due to negative customer feedback, the first Sonata model, which debuted in 1985 as a face-lifted Hyundai Stellar with an improved engine, was quickly removed from the market. The nameplate was first exclusively offered in South Korea[3]; however, by 1988, the second generation had been widely exported.[4][5]
Pakistan, China, and South Korea are currently the countries that make Sonatas. Sonata, a musical phrase, served as its name.
First generation (Y1; 1985)
As a lavisher version of the Stellar to compete with the Daewoo Royal series, the original Sonata was introduced. Cruise control, power front seats, power front and rear brakes, power side mirrors with adjustable electric motors, and chrome bumper trims were all featured. The Sonata was available in Korea in two trim levels: Super and Luxury (the latter of which was only available with a 2.0-liter engine). With slogans like “Luxury car for VIP,” Hyundai tried to position the Sonata as an executive vehicle in the domestic market. The Sonata was largely based on the Stellar with only minor modifications, therefore the general public viewed it as little more than a more sumptuous Stellar.
Second generation (Y2; 1988)
Not only regionally, but also internationally, North America, Europe, and Canada all offered this generation for sale. The car, which had a Mitsubishi engine, did well on the market. In 1999, it underwent a mid-term makeover.
Third generation (Y3; 1993)
When it first came out, it had a 2.0-liter engine. A few exterior changes led to it being marketed as Sonata in South Korea and Marcia elsewhere. In 1996, the third-generation Sonata underwent a makeover that included changes to the front, back, and power train
Fourth generation (EF; 1998).
This platform utilized the Hyundai-KIA Y4. It increased in size while keeping its wheelbase constant. The fourth-generation Sonata underwent a facelift in 2001 that featured changes to the grille, headlights, taillights, and repositioning of the rear license plate from the fascia to the trunk lid. Even though it was advertised for sale abroad, it is still on display in South Korea.
Fifth generation (NF; 2004)
When the Sonata originally made its debut in Korea, two engine choices were available. The United States released it in 2005 with standard safety measures. 2008 saw the release of the sonatas revamp. Redesigned engines, a new front fascia, a chrome 3-bar grille, taillights, jewel-projector headlights, 10-spoke alloy wheels, and a thoroughly updated instrument panel were among the modifications.
Sixth generation (YF; 2009)
Up to the launching of the seventh generation in 2014, the sixth-generation Sonata was in production. In 2012, the sixth generation underwent a facelift that included both internal and exterior improvements.
Seventh Generation (LF; 2014)
2014 saw the introduction of the seventh-generation Sonata. It received a significant revamp in 2017 and the South Korean title “Sonata New Rise.” It also included the Sonata Plug-in Hybrid model.
Eighth generation (DN8; 2019)
South Korea hosted the launch. It has modern features and a sporty appearance. Hyundai offers two versions of the eighth-generation Sonata in Pakistan: the Hyundai Sonata 2.0 and the Hyundai Sonata 2.5.
Hyundai Sonata Exterior
The cutting-edge design of the Hyundai Sonata’s eighth generation, which goes on sale in 2023, is well-known. Hyundai refers to the new Sonata’s shape as “Sensuous Sportiness” and it has a fastback-like design. The car’s front features a svelte, narrow grille, and LED projector headlamps that extend the entire length of the hood. The front also houses the daytime running lights (DRLs) and the front parking sensors. The Sonata 2023 has C-shaped horizontal LED rear combo tail lights at the back that connect with one another along the width of the car, giving it a modern and futuristic look. The car boasts 18-inch alloy wheels, electronically retractable and adjustable side mirrors, and turn signals that are LEDs. A shark fin antenna and a panoramic sunroof are on the roof.
Hyundai Sonata Interior
The Sonata 2023’s inside is covered in opulent two-tone camel leather. The front seats have adjustable headrests and lumbar support. The power-adjustable driver’s seat offers exceptional comfort. Additionally, the back seats have cup holders in the armrests and movable headrests. To boost trunk space, the rear seats also have a 60/40 split capability. The back seats also come with foamed leather seat edges and a USB charging connection. The computerized 4-spoke leather-wrapped steering wheel incorporates tilt and telescopic adjustment functions. The audio, MID, voice control, and cruise control switches are located on the steering wheel. A 12.3-inch high-quality TFT LCD behind the steering wheel shows the critical vehicle data.
Sonata Safety
The brand-new Sonata 2023 supports speed-sensing door locks, child safety locks, and central door locking. It has a smart key that allows keyless entry, an immobilizer, and a burglar alarm. There are two and four airbags on the Hyundai Sonata 2.0 and 2.5, respectively. Many safety features are present in it, like Hill-Start Assist Control (HAC), Traction Control System (TCS), Rear Occupant Alert, Front and Rear Parking Sensors, Auto Cruise Control, and Seat Belt Warning in addition to supporting ISOFIX anchors.
Hyundai Sonata Engine
There are two different engine choices for the Hyundai Sonata: the 2.0 and the 2.5 liter. The 2000cc naturally aspirated engine in the Hyundai Sonata 2.0 produces a maximum torque of 192/4500 NM/Rpm and a maximum power of 152/6200 HP/Rpm.
The Hyundai Sonata 2.5’s 2500cc naturally aspirated engine has a maximum torque output of 232/4000 NM/RPM and a maximum power output of 180/6000 Hp/RPM. Both models include a 6-speed automatic transmission and 2WD.
Sonata Ride & Handling
The 2WD Hyundai Sonata 2023 puts comfort ahead of sportiness. Despite the vehicle’s fashionable appearance, the engine is built to provide passengers with a comfortable ride rather than a rapid one. The suspension can largely absorb jolts from the road, which results in stable handling. The Sonata has a good ride quality all over.
Sonata Maintenance
The Hyundai Sonata 2023 is easy to maintain, but because it’s so new, it’s hard to find the auto parts it needs.
Sonata Competitors
Sonata is Pakistan’s first locally made D-segment sedan, therefore it doesn’t have much direct competition. The Honda Accord and Toyota Camry, two other imported D-segment sedans, will suffer sales losses as a result of the vehicle.
