Hyundai Verna

Hyundai Verna

Introduction:

Hyundai Verna, In order to sell a sedan in today’s market, a car manufacturer truly needs to have something unique to offer. Hyundai definitely believes that the brand-new Verna is such a vehicle. A new iteration of Hyundai’s C2, a sedan that has always performed satisfactorily in its class, has just been launched in the country. It won’t be simple for the new Verna to take the lead in the segment despite competition from vehicles like the Honda City, Maruti Ciaz, Skoda Slavia, and Volkswagen Virtus, among others

Two gasoline engines—a 1.5-liter normally aspirated (NA) engine with 113 hp and a 1.5-liter turbocharger engine with 158 horsepower—power the new Verna. Both engines come standard with 6-speed manual transmissions, but you may also choose between a CVT automatic for the NA gasoline engine and a 7-speed DCT for the turbo gasoline engine. The diesel engine has been eliminated as a result of the RDE standards. It would be interesting to see the sales figures in the upcoming months now that there is a fair playing field and all the cars in this segment have only petrol engines.

Hyundai Verna Price & Information

Similar to the Ciaz and its competitors (Honda City, Skoda Slavia, and VW Virtus), the Verna typically has comparable pricing. Prices start at Rs. 10,89,900 (ex-showroom) and come in four variations: EX, S, SX, and SX (O). Click here for the complete price list.

When comparing the top-tier turbo-petrol models, the Verna offers a nearly a lakh-dollar discount over the Skoda Slavia and Volkswagen Virtus. Skoda recently announced that the 1.5 turbo-petrol (TSI) engine from the Slavia will also be available in the Ambition (mid) model, hinting that they may have been waiting for the Hyundai to go on sale. The SX version of the Verna is the target of this maneuver. The Verna’s 1.5L normally aspirated models cost the same as the Honda City.

Exterior:

Design & Styling:

You may not immediately find the newest global design language from Hyundai to be appealing. It’s cutting edge, futuristic, and pretty out there in terms of today. However, the older external and interior designs began to feel ineffective and excessively traditional. So in a way, Hyundai should benefit in the long run from this new strategy. The new Verna’s design sparked controversy even among BHP employees. In-person, the exterior elements of the car don’t appear as extravagant as they do in photographs. The body of the car has many wrinkles, which give it personality.

Build Quality, Fit & Finish:

The Verna, which is based on a brand-new platform, appears to be well-made. On our test car, we didn’t notice any uneven gaps and the panel gaps are tight. Although there is considerable elasticity in the panels, it doesn’t feel flimsily built. The doors close with a comforting crash and have a considerable amount of weight to them. The exterior design components all have a decent overall quality, and the bonnet seems hefty.

Wheels & Tyres:

Top-tier turbo-petrol vehicles are equipped with 16-inch black alloy wheels wrapped in 205/55 section tires. The Slavia and  Virtus are of a comparable size. The top-end non-turbo models receive the same size wheels made of dual-tone diamond-cut alloys. Smaller 15-inch alloy wheels with 185/65 section tires come on the lower-end “S” model. The spare tire is an 185/65 section Tyre on a 15-inch steel wheel.

Ground Clearance:

The Verna’s precise ground clearance height has not been disclosed by Hyundai. The Verna didn’t scrape over some rough environment, unlike a lot of sedans in its class.

Standard & Extended Warranty:

You receive a standard 3-year/unlimited mile warranty with the Hyundai Verna. A 7-year extended warranty is also available, and we strongly advise getting it.

Maintenance:

For up to five years, Hyundai offers a variety of maintenance packages. The package includes major operating components including brakes, clutch, wipers, belts, etc. as part of the Hyundai Shield of Trust. A further Super package is available that lowers the maintenance costs even more. It includes built-in inflation insurance against rising labor and part prices. The maintenance window is a year / 10,000 kilometers.

Safety:

GNCAP and Euro NCAP have not yet conducted crash tests for the Hyundai Verna. It will be interesting to observe how the car does in the crash tests because there isn’t a lot of information available about the platform. In terms of features, Hyundai makes certain that everything is covered. With front and rear radar sensors, the vehicle has level 2 ADAS characteristics. This means that you have a variety of driver assistance systems at your disposal, like adaptive cruise control, rear cross-traffic collision assist, forward collision avoidance help, blind spot warning, lane maintenance assist, safe exit warning, etc. The ESC, ABS with EBD, front and rear parking sensors, TPMS, hill-start assist, ISOFIX child seat anchors, and auto headlights are all incorporated as standard. Six airbags are also available.

Cabin Design & Quality:

A stylish dashboard greets you as soon as you enter the cabin. Numerous svelte elements give the cabin a futuristic appearance. The interior design is quite likable in contrast to the exterior, where it may polarize opinions. While the naturally aspirated varieties have dual-tone black and beige interiors, the turbo-petrol versions have an all-black dashboard with red accents. Both color schemes complement the design of the automobile well and accurately convey the personalities of the engines.

The materials used to build the cabin could have been of higher quality. The cabin is mostly built of hard plastics, while the build quality is acceptable. The fact that these are scratchy plastics may deter some customers. This is not something you would expect in a car that will retail for more than 20 lakh. On the dashboard, there is a middle layer of leatherette that feels lovely to the touch.

Space & Comfort:

The Verna has the largest wheelbase in its class and is bigger than the others in terms of overall dimensions. This results in more spacious cabins. The front passengers are well separate from one another, and the cabin feels airy thanks to the available glass space.

The leatherette-upholstered front chairs provide good all-around support. Our test drive was comfortable because of the excellent cushioning. The base of the seat and the backrest are both well-bolstered, and there is enough thigh support. A 4-way automated driver’s seat with manual height adjustment is available. There is a center armrest as well as leather-wrapped armrests on the door pads. The front seats are generally very comfy.

Driving Position & Ergonomics:

The majority of the controls within the cabin are pretty intuitive, so you won’t need to actively look for any controls. All of the controls are positioned to be readily available even in terms of ergonomics. Only the window controls, in my opinion, were positioned slightly ahead of normal. reminded me of the Ferrari Pinto, in which you had to operate the back passenger window to roll down the driver’s window.

Cabin Storage:

The cabin has a considerable amount of storage space, and most of what you have will end up in one of them. Then there are the door pads, which can take two 500 ml bottles each (have you ever wondered why they didn’t include a single large 1-litre bottle holder?) and a few other trinkets. The turbo-petrol DCT variant has a significantly larger interior center console and an automated parking brake. As a result, you receive a larger storage box under the center console as well as a larger cubbyhole with a retractable cup holder compared to the versions with a manual parking brake. Seat back pockets are provided for the rear passengers as well as for storage.

Air-Conditioning:

On a consuming day in Gurugram, the Verna’s fully automatic temperature control system adequately cooled the cabin. The highly effective ventilated seats gave a layer of comfort, which improved the situation. Additionally, the air cooler has an integrated air cleaner.
