AMG® Models
Extra Features Offered by Mercedes, Mercedes-AMG® GmbH began as an independent firm called AMG®, which manufactured racing engines for Mercedes-Benz automobiles. It immediately began to offer Mercedes-Benz vehicle owners modification options, including high-performance engines, custom wheel packages, body kits, spoilers, enhanced upholstery, custom wood trim, high-performance sound systems, and other performance and styling modifications. Mercedes-Benz partnered with AMG® in 1990 to sell AMG®’s modified vehicles and improvements directly through official Mercedes-Benz dealerships and retail channels, and Mercedes-Benz purchased a controlling interest in AMG® in 1999, legally integrating it into the Mercedes-Benz organization.
Since then, Mercedes-AMG® worked together directly with Mercedes-Benz to build high-performance versions of popular Mercedes-Benz vehicles. Such as the CLA, CLS, G-Class, GL-Class, GLA, GLE, C-Class, and S-Class, as well as their first vehicle developed independently, the SLS AMG®. Each Mercedes-AMG® model is a high-performance variant with features not available on normal Mercedes-Benz automobiles.
Here are some of the features that differentiate a Mercedes-Benz AMG®:
Turbocharged Engines
Many basic Mercedes-Benz engines are naturally aspirated. So the compression of the engine is what naturally draws in the air needed for combustion. A turbocharged engine forces additional air into the engine via a mechanical device known as a turbocharger. It is propelled by a turbine’s exhaust. More air entering the engine may result in the combustion process adding more fuel. Resulting in a more forceful expansion of the gases when ignited and an important rise in engine output power.
Mercedes-AMG® presently produces five turbocharged engines for the US market, which are used in a variety of cars. Each engine is custom-built to maximize performance.
Mercedes-AMG® currently offers the following engines:
2.0-Liter Turbocharged Inline 4-Cylinder:
This small four-cylinder engine has 381 horsepower and 332 pound-feet of torque. Making it one of the most powerful engines on the market. The A, GLA, and CLA, among other AMG® 45 models, all feature it.
3.0-Liter Bi Turbo V6:
It is a six-cylinder engine with dual turbochargers that generates 367 horsepower and is available in a variety of AMG® vehicles, including the SLC 43, GLE 450, and C 450.
4.0-Liter Bi Turbo V8:
This eight-cylinder, dual-turbo engine is available in a variety of AMG® automobiles and may produce 462 or 510 horsepower, depending on the model. Including the AMG® C 63 and C 63 S, as well as the AMG® GT and GT S.
5.5-Liter Bi Turbo V8:
A lot of AMG® 63 models have this larger V8 engine, which produces 557 or 585 horsepower and up to 664 pound-feet of torque. Including the CLS, E, G, GLE, GLS, S, and SL-class vehicles.
6.0-Liter Bi Turbo V12:
This twelve-cylinder engine with dual turbochargers provides up to 630 horsepower and 738 pound-feet of torque and is available in the AMG® 65 series. Which includes cars in the G, S, and SL classes.
High-Performance Transmissions
High-performance gearboxes are necessary to properly transfer the increased power delivered by Mercedes-AMG® turbocharged engines to the vehicle’s wheels. The 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine is paired with the AMG® Speed-shift dual-clutch 7-speed transmission. While the majority of the other engines have been fitted with the AMG® Speed-shift MCT multi-clutch 7-speed transmission. Both transmissions offer rapid shifting, a clutch-less manual mode, and three automatic driving modes: “Comfort,” “Sport,” and “Sport Plus.”
Available All-Wheel Drive
An all-wheel-drive system dynamically allocates engine power to the wheels that require it, resulting in faster acceleration, more power, improved handling, and greater control on slick roads. Many Mercedes-Benz AMG® models, including the CLA, CLS, G, GL, GLA, GLE, C, and S-Classes, are available with all-wheel drive.
Upgraded Suspension
AMG® models have modified shocks, specially engineered front and rear axles, steel suspension struts, air suspension, automated leveling, and three-stage traction control systems. All of these technologies work together to create a suspension that is more firm and more sporty than an ordinary Mercedes-Benz. Which improves handling and cornering, especially at high speeds.
Performance Exhaust System
To perform well, an engine must have large of air entering the combustion chamber and a free-flowing exhaust system. The Mercedes-AMG® range of vehicles have performance exhausts that not only increase power by using larger-diameter pipes, smooth bends, and decreased back pressure. But also look amazing thanks to optional chrome or stainless steel accents. They also improve the engine’s sound, producing an exhaust note that matches the engine’s performance.
Performance Brake System
Mercedes-AMG® offers enhanced braking systems on their vehicles to provide plenty of stopping power. Such as components such as cross-drilled, large-diameter rotors, performance brake calipers with specially-designed pistons, and electronic stability control systems that increase braking performance and keep the brakes cooler.
Custom Wheel Packages
Mercedes-AMG® vehicles include custom wheel and tire packages not seen on other Mercedes-Benz vehicles. Such as high-performance alloy wheels in custom sizes and finishes. These wheel packages are lighter, stronger, and more attractive than normal wheel packages, and they perform better.
Upgraded Interiors
Mercedes-AMG® vehicles have custom interiors that include features such as prominent AMG® badges, upgraded upholstery, including high-quality leather, custom trim, including wood accents, premium sound systems, premium navigation systems, custom racing seats, custom AMG® floor mats, and driver assist features such as active lane keeping assist, rear-view cameras, attention assist, active brake assist, blind spot assist, night view assist, parking assist, traffic alarms assist, and traffic alarms assist. Other available safety features include multiple airbag systems, active head restraints, and clever headlight systems. Each interior provides outstanding comfort for both the driver and the passengers, with several features that make the car easy to drive while also increasing safety and performance.
